All through the summer in Italy, from the Italian Alps to Sicily, it is generally warm. During the summer months (June-August) the average temperatures range from 25° C to 38° C, while during the winter ( December and January) the average temperature ranges from 3°C to 15°C in the region of Compagna, where Sorrento is located. Circumvesuviana bus, Circumvesuviana train, and taxis. Tickets for the bus must be purchased before hand at any Tabacchi (Tobacco stores) bonamento (Meta, Piano di Sorrento, Sant’ Angelo and Sorrento) (€1 – 1 trip, €7 - 1 week, or €25 - 1month). Be sure to stamp your ticket as soon as you get on the bus.
Tickets for the train must also be purchased beforehand at the train station. Be sure to stamp your ticket as soon as you get on the train.
Taxis are always waiting in front of the bus station in Sorrento and are usually in the piazza of Sant’Angelo, Piano di Sorrento, and Meta.

Pickpockets can be a hazard in near by cities but is almost unheard of in Sorrento. However, we encourage that students always carry money in an inside pocket, never in back trouser pocket or on the outside of a coat or jacket.
